Memento Mori Paternoster – a paternoster of carved bone beads strung on black silk with decorative bone Gaud beads, each flanked by carved bone skulls. The Paternoster is decorated with several additions representing the inevitability of death, the macabre, and the promise of salvation, including a snake, a Sacred Heart, and a cross decorated with skulls. Finally, the circular Paternoster terminates in a passementerie of rattling bone “tassels” topped with a skull, the eternal reminder that our time here is finite.
