Welcome to the Æthelmearc Ministry of Arts & Sciences
The “Arts & Sciences” are the crafts, skills, and technologies of the pre 17th-century world. The term Arts and Sciences, or “A&S” can be applied to any aspect of the SCA that helps make our events look and feel immersive. They are present on display at all our events; in the recipes used for a feast, the armor worn in combat, the scrolls presented in court, and the clothing and accessories we wear. The Arts & Sciences are the lifeblood of our organization, joining our diverse arts through material and immaterial culture!
Meet your Kingdom Ministers of the Arts and Sciences:

Magnifica Fede di Fiore
Fede was Æthelmearc’s 24th Champion of the Arts and Sciences, founder and Guildmaster of the Æthelmearc Clothiers Guild, and autocrat for her shire’s long-running A&S event: Fiber Fabric Fighting. She has been a lover and patron of the arts for as long as she has been in the SCA. In her first term as Kingdom Minister of the Arts and Sciences, she hopes to help make A&S more approachable, cultivate and support the Kingdom’s already thriving A&S community and make the kingdom’s online resources more digitally accessible.

Baroness Antoinette DeLorraine
Antoinette was Æthelmearc’s 26th Champion of the Arts and Sciences, as well as a previous Queen’s choice winner at A&S Faire. Antoinette has autocrated several events, including Aethelmearc Kingdom 12th night, QRC, and Fall academy. Her history of offices held include Shire Seneschal, Shire Chronicler, Kingdom Historian, Kingdom Chancelor of Youth, as well as several other roles on royal staff. While Antoinette’s art career in the SCA has primarily been dedicated to the research and teaching of counted work and related stitches, she also dabbles in different types of lacemaking. In her first term as Deputy Kingdom Minister of the Arts and Sciences, she hopes to encourage others of all skill levels to pursue their art dreams and to help connect the community, both in person and online.
