This project encompasses experimental archaeology combined with my own existing practical skills. I am creating examples and presenting research on the application, creation and place in time of thread-wrapped buttons in Europe in the 16th century. This project will be focusing on buttons found during the second half of the 16th century, including sources from Cosimo de Medici and Eleanora di Toledo’s clothing, inventories, and portraiture during their marriage.
