Class will focus first on a brief overview of popular tropes of marginalia we see in medieval manuscripts. We will then shift to hands-on work where we will draw, paint, and seal our own marginalia into small medallions. There will be plenty of samples of marginalia, line art for tracing, full-color samples of marginalia, paint supplies, and handouts.
Everyone taking the class will walk away with a new medallion, a handout full of great marginalia, and (hopefully) a new appreciation for those weird doodles we see in the margins!
