The class will survey the use of the crossbow in Spain, Portugal, and Andalusia through the Middle Ages and on down to the use in the New World. It will discuss its military and social use. It will deal with the naval use that Aragon in particular made of the crossbow. It will discuss the noted use of the crossbow by the Emirate of Granada. It will address the use of the crossbow by Cortes, Ponce de Leon, Cabrillo, and Coronado.
