Based on several extant Coptic socks from Egypt, circa 3-5 centuries AD, this recreation uses a variant technique of looping in single needle knitting, known as the Coptic stitch (similarly known as Tarim, although that is a misnomer.) The sock is worked in 100% wool yarn, worsted weight. The patterning was discerned by analyzing pictures of the extant socks and using old fashion trial and error.
