Elena de la Palma is a minor noblewoman living in 1530s Spain, serving in the court of Isabel of Portugal. Practical concerns (aka, my SCAdian interests) often cause her to dress below her station as a noblewoman and to dabble in arts that a typical noblewoman would not explore.
