Current COVID policy for the Kingdom of Æthelmearc (and we do not expect this to change anytime soon) is that everyone over the age of 2, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask indoors.

All of the classrooms with the exception of the War College are indoors and, therefore, EVERYONE over the age of 2 INCLUDING TEACHERS MUST BE MASKED FOR THE DURATION OF EACH CLASS. The classrooms will have signs reminding attendees of this fact.

We know this might be difficult to manage but we are the SCA and courtesy dictates that we follow policy, and that we are patient with the difficulties this may present.

We would recommend that you each bring one or more masks, and a straw to allow you to drink out of a bottle or mug without needing to remove your mask.

Teachers are allowed to move classes outside if permitted by the weather and class structure.

You must also eat out of doors, but the autocrat has assured us that there are plenty of tables in the various open structures and porches to allow for this.

As winter’s cold gives way to the warmth of spring and we unbundle from the waning cold… it is time to start thinking about Spring Æcademy. Come brewers and weavers, come fencers and seamstresses,  come swordsmen and scribes – come all ye with knowledge to share and a desire to learn to the in-person Spring Æthelmearc Æcademy and War College.

The Spring Æcademy and War College will be held in the Shire of Coppertree at Camp Kingsley, 5330 Tuffy Road, Ava, New York on June 18, 2022.

We have a large dining hall, 3 large cabins, and a large lodge for indoor classes, plus a large field, outdoor pavilion, and an archery range for outdoor and War College classes.

We are now seeking teachers in all disciplines to fill our many classroom slots.

Classes will run from 10am to noon and 1pm to 4:30pm with a 1 hour break for lunch.

Note that while the site itself is dry, this does not preclude the brewers and vintners of the Kingdom to present classes on process, materials, and research into period products and technique.

Boxed lunch menu: Roll, roast chicken leg, dill pickles, hard boiled egg, apple, and a cookie. Those with questions or dietary concerns, please contact Duchess Rowan de la Garnison (Loie Hodge), 315-790-4552, loie.hodge@gmail.com.
