A look at Thor’s “fishing trip” and his battle with Jǫrumgandr as contained in Hymiskviða. Also included will be a look at several analogues in various mythological traditions. The lecture portion will will 20-30 minutes long, with 10-15 minutes for questions and discussions. Powerpoint slides, notes, and bibliography will be made publicly available
