From the earliest single room long houses to the development of the passageway house in the 14th Century, Icelanders have been living in turf houses since the island was settled. This class will cover the structure of the turf house, and the progression from the single room to multiple rooms to the passageway style. I will also touch on some interesting out buildings and their specific uses.
