We will examine the joints used in the Purser’s Chest from the Mary Rose, sunk in battle in July 1545. There are different methods of cutting these joints, depending on the tools involved, whether hand or power. These joints can be used for chests of various sizes, from small “keeping boxes” to large furniture items.
